Tag Heuer was originally founded Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG by Edouard Heuer in 1860. Later in 1985 Tag Group (Holdings) S.A. purchased the company and original Heuer brand becomes Tag Heuer. The current owner of Tag Heuer is LVMH Moet Hennessy, a French luxury goods conglomerate.

1911, Heuer received a patent for the “Time of Trip”, the first dashboard
chronograph. In 1958, Heuer introduced a model with a rotating bezel tachymeter
for more complex calculations. In 1969, Heuer, Breitling, Hamilton and movement
specialist Dubois Depraz in partnership developed first automatic
(self-winding) chronograph.
